TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several relatives of those who will soon face the death penalty have come to Nusakambangan Penitentiary in Cilacap, Central Java, as the execution date draws closer.
According to Antara's observation at Wijayapura Harbour in Cilacap, Angelita Aparecida Muxfeldt - a cousin of Rodrigo Gularte - was seen at the docks on Thursday, March 5, 2015, after having disembarked from a car.
Angelita is known to have come with a consulate staff from the Brazilian Embassy - Leonardo Carvalho Monteiro, who took her immediately to the security entrance at Wijayapura Harbour to get her permits to visit Gularte at Pasir Putih Prison in Nusakambangan, sorted out.
It is known that several relatives of Serge Arezki Atlaoui - including his wife Sabine Atlaoui - were also spotted at Wijayapura Harbour. Sabine, as per her previous visits, refused to be interviewed, and the same goes for Mohamed Atlaoui and Alexandre Megel.
They also walked straight to the security post at the Harbour to get their visitation permits sorted out - Atlaoui is also currently being held at Pasir Putih Prison.
Apart from Gularte and Atlaoui's relatives, a group of visitors who claimed to be Andrew Chan's adoptive family were also spotted at the Harbour. A member of the group - Nicholas Alexander - claims to be the son of Father Daniel Alexander, who is known to have adopted Andrew Chan.
"Father Daniel has been giving pastoral care and counselling for Andrew Chan, and he's always there for him," he said.
According to Alexander, they came to Nusa Kambangan to speak with Chan for the last time before his execution. Alexander also added that Chan had repented while he served time in prison, and has helped so many others in the corrections centre.
"He has baptised quite a number of people, and he had already repented for his sins. According to Father Daniel, it isn't fair if Andrew is executed because someone who has repented for his or her sins should be given a second chance," said Alexander.
As such, he continued, his family will continue to provide mental support for Chan.
It is known that Nicholas Alexander and his group was seen leaving the port and away from the Harbour because the appropriate permits were not issued by the authorities.
Another visitor - a foreigner who claims to be Myuran Sukumaran's attorney - was also spotted at the security post at the Harbour. Afterwards, she was seen leaving the post and headed towards a waiting car as her visitation request was rejected. To the press, she claims that she was not allowed to cross because she had yet to coordinate with the Attorney General's Office (AGO).
