TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two descendants of Javanese Prince Diponegoro took part in the script reading of the story of Diponegoro at Goethe Haus. The two descendants, Ki Roni Sodewo and Ryo Aulia Sodewo, each played a role as narrator and the Prince in the show that was directed by senior actor Landung Simatupang.
“They are Prince Diponegoro’s descendants. Ryo is the son of Ki Roni,” said Ina Prahaksiwi, the Excecutive Producer of the show.
The drama show depicted the life story of the Prince since he was born until he died in Makassar. The story was written by Landung Simatupang based on a book entitled ‘Kuasa Ramalan’ (2007) – a biography of Diponegoro written by British historian Peter Carey—and ‘Babad Diponegoro’ (1831-1832) which is the Prince’s autobiography.
Landung had previously performed the drama in places in Magelang, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and Makassar, that have historical relationship with the Prince’s life.
