Jokowi Prepares to Leave for Japan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is set to make a visit to Japan after visiting Singapore and China. The President is preparing to discuss is the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between both countries, which was signed seven years ago in Tokyo.
An Indonesian diplomatic source said that Indonesia will ask the Japanese government to review several provisions in the bilateral agreement mostly because the provisions were considered disadvantageous for Indonesia, especially in matters related to technology transfer and capacity building.
"For example, in relation to nurse and migrant workers," the source said.
Moreover, the source said that Indonesia expects Japan to be able to improve the skills of Indonesian nurse. "We expect that the Japanese Administration is willing to cooperate with Indonesian Nursing School. Therefore, we are able to send skilled workers abroad," the source said.
