TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) is predicted to continue its uptrend for the short-run, breaking the 5,550 bps level. Universal Broker Indonesia analyst Satrio Utomo said the projection is based on investors' positive outlook on the domestic economy.
"Yesterday's inflation data release by the Central Statistics Agency was responded positively by investors," he said yesterday.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) yesterday announced a 0.36 percent deflation in February 2015. Thus, the annual inflation in February was 6.29 percent with a core inflation of 0.34 percent.
The positive news bolstered the JCI, allowing it to break new records twice. In the first session, the index reached 5,472 or rose 21.83 points (0.4 percent). It then closed the day with another record gain of 0.5 percent to 5,477 bps.
Satrio predict the index to continue its uptrend until it reaches 5,500 bps, after which it will shoot up to its next record target of around 5,850 bps.
