TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Vice President Jusuf Kalla said the legal problems implicating commissioners and investigators of the Corruption Eradication Commission were of individual problems.
“It’s just that [there are those who] put political emotions into them,” Kalla said at the Vice President Palace on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
Kalla also dismissed claims that the protest staged by the commission’s employees and the alleged criminalization against the KPK commissioners would eventually obliterate the Indonesian graft-busters.
Thus, he called on all disputing parties, including the hundreds of KPK employees staging a protest today, to respect the ongoing legal process.
Kalla said the handover of the graft case of Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan was in keeping with the South Jakarta District Court’s ruling. “Well, we have to introspect as well,” he said.
Some 500 KPK employees staged a protest this morning in front of the KPK office against the commission’s decision to hand over the investigation into the graft case surrounding former National Police chief candidate Comr. Budi Gunawan to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
“Our stance statement is clear: rejecting the KPK leaders’ decision” said Nanang Syam, an orator in the protest.
The protest began at around 9 a.m. today, with protesters delivering speech in turn. Acting KPK chief Taufiequrrahman Ruki and acting deputy chief Indriyanto Seno Adji were seen among the protesters.
