TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The National Police’s general information division chief, Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, said Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan would attend an Armed Forces-National Police executive meeting at the Police Science Institute (STIK) on Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
“He has been confirmed on the list of attendees,” he told reporters at the STIK Auditorium on Jl. Tirtayasa, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. Budi Gunawan has been in the public limelight since the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named him a graft suspect while the former was tapped to become the next National Police chief.
The anti-graft body submitted Monday the files of Budi’s case to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO), which would later hand them in to the National Police detective department (Bareskrim).
Rikwanto said President Joko Widodo was slated to join the meeting to give directions to the military and police top brass. “We will receive directions from the president to make improvement in the future.”
Rikwanto told reporters he was ignorant of the substance of the presidential directions, but added it could be about the handover of Budi’s case from the KPK to the AGO and the lingering standoff between the KPK and the National Police.
The meeting is scheduled to last for three days.
