TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Grassroot Society Movement (GMBI) reported Tempo Magazine to the Crime Unit of the National Police Headquarter. GMBI Chief, Mohamad Fauzan Rachman, reported Tempo Magazine edition January 19-25, 2015, entitiled "Bukan Sekadar Rekening Gendut" (Not Just A Mere Fat Bank Account).
The magazine highlighted a number of budget flow by Commissioner General Budi Gunawan to a number of parties. Press Council member, Yosep Adi Prasetyo, said that Fauzan alleged Tempo of leaking banking confidentiality, which is against Law No. 10/1998 article 47 on Banking and Law No. 8/2010 article 11 on money laundering prevention and eradication.
However, Yosep explained that Tempo Magazine cannot be categorized as a crime, nor violating code of ethics. He said that the report was a result of investigation, used for public information.
"That is between the reporters and sources. Tempo merely delivered the information, not leaking it," he said.
