TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Secretary Minister Pratikno on Thursday said President Joko Widodo asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Attorney General and the police to focus on corruption prevention while corruption eradication is focused on fields that have direct impact on people such as illegal fishing and illegal logging.
He said those illegal actions must be stopped because they could cause large state losses.
He continued that Jokowi wanted the KPK to return to its former glory of being a strong and trusted institution. After naming Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan suspect, the anti-corruption agency has been repeatedly attacked.
Two KPK leaders, Bambang Widjojanto and Abraham Samad, have been named suspect. After that, 21 KPK investigators, including Novel Baswedan, have also been accused of having been related to illegal arm possession.
However, Jokowi does not put a stop to the criminalization attempt towards KPK. He called for all parties to respect the ongoing legal process and asked KPK, Attorney General and the police to keep coordinating.
