TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Ukrainian journalist was killed by gunfire during a clash in east Ukraine on Saturday, February 28, 2015.
Photographer Serhiy Nikolayev was covering a report during when an artillery fire struck near the village of Pesky, northwest of Donetsk, as reported by Channel News Asia. The incident occurred during a two-week-old ceasefire after a significant drop in rebel attacks.
Despite the ceasefire, a GRAD missile attacked a town that is currently controlled by the government of Avdiivka.
President Petro Poroshenko, said a military threat from the east still continues even after a peace agreement. He also said that he would submit a bill to the Ukraine parliament to make a formal request for the deployment of United Nations peacekeepers to monitor the ceasefire.
Poroshenko had also explained to US Vice President Joe Biden that the attack still remain around Donetsk and Mariupol by the alleged Russian separatists group.
