TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Commissioner of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Taufiequrrachman Ruki, said that the KPK has failed in investigating the corruption allegation against former Police Chief candidate Commissioner General Budi Gunawan. "KPK has lost," he said in a press conference.
KPK has officially hand over Budi Gunawan's investigation files to the Attorney General Office (AGO). However, Ruki claimed that KPK will continue to handle other corruption cases.
"We still have 36 unfinished cases. If we have our eyes locked on Budi Gunawan, others will be left unattended," said Ruki.
He added that leaving the case to the AGO is a form of alternative solution. "[The case] must end today. The case must not deviate from law [procedures]," he said.
