TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least three regencies located near Mount Lemongan have already formulated a contingency plan to anticipate the eruption of Mount Lemongan, which has the height of 1,676 meter above sea level.
Those three regencies are Lumajang regency, Jember regency, and Probolinggo regency.
East Java Natural Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has formulated the plan in the past month in those three regions alternately.
Head of East Java BPBD Januar Rachmadi said that with this contingency plan, the three regions have already had the scenario as to how to mitigate the eruption of Mount Lemongan.
The contingency plan also involves a number of task forces in from each regency as well as volcanic experts from he Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG).
For the record, Mount Lemongan is an active volcano located in these three regencies, Lumajang, Jember and Probolinggo and it is predicted that once the mountain erupts, those three regions would be affected.
