TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Leonard Nimoy, a Hollywood actor known for his role as Spock in the TV series ‘Star Trek’ (1966-1969) passed away in the age of 83 years old. Nimoy’s son said the actor died from lung disease in Los Angeles.
Nimoy wrote in his Twitter account last month that he suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, despite quitting smoking 30 years ago, Fox News reported.
William Shatner who played Captain Kirk released a statement to FOX411 through an email news of his costar's death broke.
"I loved him like a brother," Shatner wrote as quoted by Fox News. "We will all miss his humor, his talent, and his capacity to love."
Nimoy's ambivalence to the his Star Trek’s role was reflected in the titles of his two autobiographies, "I Am Not Spock" (1975) and "I Am Spock" (1995).
After "Star Trek" ended, the actor immediately joined the hit adventure series "Mission Impossible" as Paris, the mission team's master of disguises.
