TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has assigned Benny Dollo as caretaker for the Indonesian national senior football team. The highest football body in the country has yet successful in their search for replacement for Austrian Alfred Riedl who was sacked on December 3, 2014 due to his failure to bring Indonesia title in the 2014 AFF.
PSSI, through its National Football Team Body (BTN), had previously spilled a plan to have another foreign coach but seems like the plan is going nowhere.
With the trial schedule of FIFA Match Day is coming to near, PSSI decided to appoint Benny Dollo, a former national coach, to temporarily handle the senior team for the trial match on March 25 and 30 in Sidoarjo, East Java.
“After a challenging meeting, since we had to synchronize all the programs as whole, PSSI has decided to appoint Benny Dollo as coach,” said PSSI’s Secretary general Joko Driyono at PSSI office in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday.
The meeting also involved directors of High Performance Unit (HPU), technical, and coaching directors. The permanent position to handle Indonesian team for 2019 Asian Cup and 2018 World Cup will be announced in June.
