TEMPO.CO, Cilacap - An Australian reporter, Candace Sutton, was arrested by Indonesian authorities when covering the preparation of the execution of two Bali Nine members in Cilacap, Central Java. Sutton, who is a reporter for The Daily Mail, was accused of violating immigration law because she has no recommendation letter from the Foreign Ministry.
Sutton was found using tourist visa to cover the death penalty preparation of two Australian drug smugglers, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran. Sutton also write her report under the condition of anonymity.
Authorities confirmed that Sutton will soon be released and deported, after undergoing investigation at the Immigration Office.
Previously, journalists from Brazil and Peru were deported on January 18, 2015. The two journalists were also found violating their permit by covering the preparation of execution in Nusakambangan Penitentiary in Cilacap, Central Java.
