TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was committed to implementing the electronic budgeting system in Indonesia to tackle fictitious programs.
“He [Jokowi] said it’s a must, because he believes what’s more important is that the regional budgets must not be embezzled,” Ahok said at the Presidential Palace on Friday, February 27, 2015.
According to Ahok, Jokowi has been striving to implement the e-budgeting system since the latter was still Jakarta governor. That time, Ahok added, there were about 70,000 budget items.
“Jokowi said the e-budgeting was necessary to oversee those items,” Ahok said.
In relation to the fictitious programs in the Jakarta budget plan, the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD DKI Jakarta) is planning to exercise its right of inquiry since Ahok alleged that the city council had included fictitious programs in the Jakarta budget plan for 2015 fiscal year.
