TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The management of Hotel Sparx in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta received a bomb threat on Thursday. The police immediately deployed a bomb squad to scour the location.
“After we combed the location, it’s sterile, nothing was found,” Tamansari Police chief Afrisal said on Thursday, February 26, 2015.
He said the police suspected the possible motives behind the threat were to frighten [the hotel management] and extortion, and that police investigators would follow-up on the case.
“We are tracking down the suspect and coordinating with the police in Aceh,” he said.
Earlier on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. the hotel management received a bomb threat via phone call. The caller, who claimed to be a member of TPI Aceh, said he had planted four bombs at the hotel, and that “the bomb would be detonated in four days from today if the hotel fails to submit the ransom,” Afrisal said.
