TEMPO.CO, Berlin – Thiago Alcantara will soon return to Bayern Munchen after starting individual training for the first time in four months.
The 23-year-old, who last trained in October before injuring ligaments in his right knee, needed another operation on the same ligaments he damaged last March.
The Spain star was absent during the World Cup in Brazil due to an injury and he last played for Bayern last March in a 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
Aside from Thiago, Bayern are also waiting on the fit return of several stars, including Javi Martinez and captain Philipp Lahm, who are training together with Alcantara today.
Bayern coach Pep Guardiola Thiago believes that Thiago could be back in training within weeks. “Perhaps he can train with us again in two or three weeks,” Guardiola said last Friday.
“Then we have to see how his knee reacts. The doctor and Thiago are optimistic, therefore so am I.”
With an eight-point lead at the top of the table, Bayern are on track for a third consecutive German league title and will visit Cologne this Friday.
