TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of Airport, Operation, and Service of PT Lion Mentari Airlines (Lion Air), Daniel Putut, claimed that Lion Air has prepared Rp6 billion budget for operational fund in Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Banten. The budget is allotted to anticipate future flight delays by compensating the passengers with cash.
Daniel said Lion Air will no longer come up with an excuse of not being able to pay delayed flight compensation. "Passengers will be given Rp300,000 per person for more than four hours of delay," said Daniel.
Daniel added that Lion Air has also prepared cash refund budget in several airports to anticipate flight delay. The number of the budget was based on the average passengers and flights.
Previously on Friday, CEO of Lion Air, Edward Sirait, claimed that Lion Air has no cash in hand to compensate the passengers. Edward said that banks all closed due to Lunar New Year celebration, causing the management unable to withdraw cash.
