TEMPO.CO, Moscow - Russia believed that six world powers and Iran would be able to reach a comprehensive agreement on Tehran's disputed nuclear program before the June 30 deadline.
Moscow's chief nuclear negotiator said that progress was being made after the latest round of talks between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad in Geneva.
"We are satisfied to see every new meeting achieve further progress," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as quoted by RIA Novosti news agency.
"There is a growing confidence that an agreement will be reached by the assigned deadline -- in other words, June 30," Ryabkov said in Geneva.
Negotiators from Iran and six world powers – the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany- have been meeting in Geneva since Friday in a bid to resolve the decade-long dispute.
A senior government official said that there would be further talks next week.
Negotiators must reach an agreement international concerns of possible military interests on Iran's nuclear enrichment program before March 31.
Technical details of the accord must then be agreed upon by June 30 or sanctions toward Tehran will remain in place and possibly be toughened.
Iran insisted that its uranium enrichment program was only for civilian use and complied with international law.
