TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale (Rs) has struck off the northeastern coast of Japan on Friday, according to reports from Japan's Meteorological Agency.
The agency said that although the earthquake posed no immediate danger to mainland Japan, the event would affect the fluctuation of tidal waves around the affected areas.
Previously this week, another earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter Scale struck off the northeastern coast of Japan, which triggered evacuations and caused the government to issue a tsunami warning alert, reported Reuters.
