TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's largest low-cost carrier Lion Air has released an official statement on some flights that have been delayed at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
“We will prepare full refund and backup planes to compensate passengers [for the delays],” said Lion Air secretary Dwiyanto Akbar Hidayat on Friday.
He said Lion Air also apologized for inconveniences and would comply to the Transportation Minister Regulation No. 77/2011 on Responsibilities of Air Transportation. Lion Air is currently processing the compensation disbursement.
Previously, PT Angkasa Pura II president director Budi Karya Sumadi said the state-owned airport operator had prepared Rp3 billion to compensate passengers of Lion Air flights for their flight delays since Wednesday.
Additionally, Lion Air has prepared six backup planes to transport stranded passengers. However, the planes have not arrived yet due to flight documentation problems.
Budi continued that Lion Air’s delays were caused by three Lion Air planes (one in Semarang, two in Jakarta) that were damaged by unknown objects two days ago on Chinese New Year holiday. “We will keep facilitating the needs of passengers until they are all fulfilled,” he said.
