TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Starting February 15, 2015, Soekarno-Hatta airport will no longer provide ticket sales counters at the airport.
State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura announced that it has decided to close all ticket counters at the airport in order to prevent ticket scalpers from operating.
"All ticket counters will be closed starting February 15, 2015,” said Senior General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta airport Bram Bharoto Tjiptadi on Sunday.
Bram also said that the plan to shut down all ticket counters at the airports had been prepared for a while by the airport operator but can put the plan into action now.
"The goal is to improve services for airport users,” Bram added.
In the meantime, Manager of Public Relations and Protocol of Soekarno-Hatta airport Yudis Tiawan said that the plan to close down all ticket counters was the agreement between PT Angkasa Pura II, airlines and the airport authority.
"There will be no more ticket counters at Terminal 1, 2, and 3," Yudis said, adding that currently there are ticket counters at Terminal 1 A, B, and C, and each is owned by airlines such as Lion Air, Batik Air, Sriwajaya Air, and Citilink, while at Terminal 2, the ticket counter is owned by national carrier Garuda Indonesia.
"The airlines have been informed about the plan,” he added.
