TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force have managed to prevent the departure of 20 illegal female workers (TKW) at the El Tari Airport in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"There were 13 illegal female workers [who have been] prevented from departing in the past four days,”" El Tari Airbase Commander Colonel Andi Wijaya told Tempo on Thursday, January 29, 2015.
The workers originated from several regions of NTT. They were apprehended shortly before departing after airport authorities raised suspicion on the workers uneasy gestures. After being questioned, it turned out that they do not have a legal working permit.
Andi suspected that there is an insider in the airport who is involved in allowing illegal female workers to go abroad.
