BNN Confirms Car Crash Suspect Shows Zero Sign of Drug Use

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) have confirmed that Christopher Daniel Sjarief, 23 years old, suspect of the deadly car crash at Pondok Indah, did not consume drugs. “Urine sample in BNN lab showed negative results,” BNN spokesman Sr. Commissioner Sumirat told Tempo on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
Previously, Christopher was mentioned to have consumed a Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) drug by Metro Jaya Regional Police Department. Polda Metro Jaya spokesman Sr. Commissioner Martinus Sitompul said on Wednesday, Jan. 21, that Christopher had consumed the thin-shaped drug.
According to Sumirat, BNN has been very thorough in examining the drug substance in Christopher’s body. Verification test of the drug continue to be conducted until night before submitting the test results to South Jakarta Metro Police Resort on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
“There were no indications of drug use,” Sumirat said.
BNN also investigated the allegations on the existing of a new substance contained in LSD. The substance is 25C-NBOMe, 25B-NBOMe and 25I-NBOMe. The test results were also negative, said Sumirat.
Sumirat also said that BNN has requested inputs from the United Nations (UN) Office on Drugs and Crime, a UN body handling in drugs, about the possibility of unidentified drug type that have not been identified by BNN. “The results were also zero,” said Sumirat.
The rumor circulating that Christopher was consuming LSD, Sumirat requested that the matter should be asked to the resource who initially stated the information. Sumirat suspected that the info was obtained from the suspect’s testimony.
However, the information could not be used as a basis to declare that the suspect was consuming drugs. The lab test has been submitted to South Jakarta Metro Police Resort as a material to complete the investigation.
