TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After releasing a book together in June 2008, married couple Raynie and Noorca M. Massardi have again simultaneously launched their novels.
The novel “Langit Terbuka” (Open Sky) is Rayni’s first novel, while Noorca released his fifth novel titled “Straw”.
“It was unplanned and unintentional. Thank God both of our novels could be released simultaneously today. Coincidentally, we also have the same publisher,” Rayni said on Monday, January 26, 2015.
“Langit Terbuka” tells about the struggle of a woman named Sila in taking on a multitude of problems in her life, which was colored by the randomness of love and feelings.
The novel “Straw” by Noorca chronicles the story of a mysterious series of deaths of renowned figures in Indonesia that somehow have been classified as normal. Banyan, a young journalist, suspects there were connections in each case. “Straw” is claimed to be the first psycho-thriller novel in the country.
“To my knowledge, this is the first psycho-thriller in Indonesia. Maybe this can be an inspiration to writers who want to write using the same genre in the future,” said Philips Vermonte, a senior researcher at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
“Straw”, which Noorca wrote for seven years, will be made into a movie.
