TEMPO.CO, Jerusalem - Israel on Monday dismissed 43 intelligence veterans for refusing to spy on Palestinians.
In a letter published by Israeli media in September 2014, the 43 reserve soldiers said they refused to carry out the task to avoid taking part in injustice toward the Palestinians.
The 43 soldiers were members of the secretive Unit 8200, Israel’s NSA, that specializes in cyber security.
The soldiers, comprising men and women, said they no longer wanted to “continue to serve in this system, which harms the rights of millions of people”.
They also criticized their spying activities, labeling them as “political abuses”.
