TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has rejected lobbying attempts by monorail project operator PT Jakarta Monorail (JM) as the company still has not fulfilled the Jakarta administration's requirements.
“It’s simple. If they cannot meet the requirements, then the cooperation cannot continue,” said Ahok on Monday.
He explained that PT JM never answered the Jakarta government’s doubts regarding the technical issues of depot construction and their business plans to show its capability to proceed with the project.
Ahok said he asked PT JM to show 30 percent of their capital from the total budget required for the project. PT JM, he added, had failed to provide a complete account on the assessment of the construction of its depots, which were planned to be built in Tanah Abang and at Setiabudi Reservoir.
Ahok said when he asked PT JM about the assesment, the consortium instead asked him to show the locations where the depots could be built.
According to Ahok, the Jakarta government would not propose any location for the depot construction, as the monorail project entirely depended on private funding and did not use the regional budget. "We are not allowed to interfere," he said.
