TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama revealed that Persija Jakarta football team has a very bad performance lately. Hence, Ahok wants to purchase Persija's share in a bid to achieve better performance in the future.
Ahok disclosed that PT Jakpro will take over the Persija management. Before that, there should be refreshment in the regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) under the Jakarta Provincial Government.
"PT Jakpro needs to thrive in advance. This is because they would take over Persija. That's why the main commissioner is Mr. Boyke. We want him to manage Persija," he stated.
He acknowledged that such acquisition is predicted to be done after Persija turns into a company. Initially, Jakarta government once offered to purchase PT Persija Jakarta's share. But they could not at hte time, considering its share price was billions of rupiah and its process was not easy. Moreover, the renaming of the team is very impossible, except all of the shares were purchased by Jakarta government.
