TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Real Madrid have completed the signing of Lucas Silva from Brazil’s Cruzeiro side in a five-and-a-half-year contract worth 14m euros and will be presented at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Monday, January 26.
Lucas Silva has has become Brazil’s most developed midfielder after winning League titles with Cruzeiro in 2013 and 2014.
He was also included in the 11 best players of the Brazilian Football Federation of the past 12 months and received the Silver Ball for best defensive midfielder.
“It’s a unique opportunity, a dream come true. I thank Cruzeiro for approving my personal request,” he told reporters on Sunday.
“I’m very happy right now. My promotion through the Cruzeiro ranks has changed a lot of things in my life,” said the 21-year-old.
“[At Cruzeiro], the whole world could get to know me, see my ability, my football, my person and my conduct within the club. The titles we won were very important to my development.”
Lucas will rival with other Real Madrid players who will also play as midfielders, including Toni Kroos, Isco, Sami Kheirdira and Luca Modric.
