Pertamina: Different Regional Tax Causes Fuel Price Discrepancies

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Pertamina said that regional tax imposed for fuel has caused the price discrepancies to be applied, as reported by Antara News.
“The price for Premium [subsidized fuel] in West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara is set at Rp6,600 per liter because it’s an assignment fuel,” PT Pertamina President Director Dwi Soetjipto said after donating an electric vehicle to Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology in Surabaya.
Dwi added that the price for Premium fuel in East Java and Bali will decline to Rp6,700 per liter and Rp Rp7,000 per litter, respectively.
“The price discrepancies are due to different fuel tax applied in each region. The fuel tax in Java, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara is at 5 percent, while the fuel tax in Bali is at 10 percent,” he said.
Dwi explained that despite the price discrepancies, Pertamina is committed to maintain guaranty the availability and distribution of fuel supply.
