TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Data and Information Section of Yogyakarta the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) Teguh Prasetyo asked Yogyakarta residents and the surrounding areas to stay alert about the potential of extreme increase in weather temperature in the period of January until early February 2015.
"In the morning until midday, it can reach 33 degrees Celsius or more if weather irregularities strengthen,” Teguh told Tempo.
In the past few weeks, weather temperature in Yogyakarta and the surrounding areas was still around 31.8 until 32 degrees Celsius. However, Teguh said that this temperature has not represented the phase of the peak of sun declination.
"The sun is not yet located exactly over Yogyakarta, so the weather can be hotter,” he said.
Teguh said that what has to be anticipated about the increased temperature is the potential of stronger wind.
