TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Steven Gerrard’s quitting Liverpool by the end of this season has left a hole in the team, particularly after the exodus of other top players such as Jamie Carragher, Pepe Reina, and Luis Suarez.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers said the Reds would undergo massive changes following Gerrard’s departure to LA Galaxy. He added that Liverpool had a nasty record in recruiting top players, thus hoping their reputation would do good enough as a magnet for top footballers.

Liverpool had a record in failing to recruit world-class footballers in the past couple of years. The Reds lost against Arsenal in the race to recruit Alexis Sanchez, and also failed to sign Willian, who opted Chelsea instead of the Merseyside squad.

Rodgers, however, was confident he could get to sign top players despite the limited budget from the club's board. He believed there were players who would preferred a club that gave them more time off the bench.
