TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Following the government’s decision to lower the price of non-subsidized fuel Pertamax non-subsidized fuel from Rp9,950 ke Rp8,800 per liter, people in Medan, North Sumatra, welcomed the new price.
However, both Premium and Pertamax have became a rare item in the city these days.
Sudiarti, a resident of Asam Kumbang, Medan Selayang said that since Thursday, 1 January 2014, she has found difficulties finding Pertamax at gas filling stations in Medan, forcing her to refill her motorcycle with Premium fuel.
"Officers at the gas stations always said that they’re running out of Pertamax," said Sri.
In the meantime, Dewanto, a resident on Jalan Beringin, Medan, said that on his way from Banda Aceh to Medan, he found that many gas filling stations along the road from Kuala Simpang in East Aceh until Medan were closed, leaving him in difficulties to refuel his car.
"We’re running out of Premium fuel. Pertamax fuel has been out of supply since four days ago,” said Adissya, an officer at a gas filling station in Medan.
