TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Development Planning Board chief Andi Baso Mappapoleonro on Friday said the development of the capital city in 2015 will be focusing on four programs, which are flood anticipation, improvement of means of transportation, low-cost apartment construction and education.
Andi said the anticipation program begins from dredging of rivers and reservoirs, setting up embankment and reparation of pipes and floodgates. This program needs special guidance and monitoring because starting next year, Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama wants to shit working system to self-management.
In the 2015 regional budget, the Jakarta government uses Rp3.3 trillion to implement those programs. The budget includes the purchase of heavy equipment to dredge rivers that will be used in self-management system.
Previously, Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said he no longer wanted private companies to work in river normalization.
Andi explained that the flood anticipation program is related to the target to build 50,000 units of low-cost apartments next year to move people living on illegal lands such as riverbanks and edge of railways.
In order to improve transportation and its infrastructure, Andi said the program includes repairing roads, adding inspection roads and road maintenance. This program will also adopt the self-management system so that broken roads can be fixed immediately without having to wait for auction process.
For education program, Jakarta is still focusing on providing Jakarta Smart Cards worth Rp3 trillion.
