TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The people of Air Anyir Village, Bangka District, Bangka Belitung Island, celebrated “Rebo Kasan” as a tradition of the Syafar month that have been held hereditary.
“Rebo Kasan tradition has been held hereditary for decades and still maintain its existence in Air Anyir Village,” said Bangka Deputy Regent, Rustamsyah, as reported by Antara News.
The tradition is held at one of the village’s mosque by the sounding of adzan (prayer call), with prayers and ketupat pulling along with drinking wafak water that has been blessed by their village ancestors.
“Wafak water is believed to be a clean water and can bring blessings,”Rustamsyah said.
According to Rustamsyah, the Rebo Kasan celebration gives positive impact towards the community as a mean to build friendship between residents.
Rebon Kasan is a form of public expectation in order to receive safety in life and filled with social means and culture, Rustamsyah said.
The local government will continue to support the implementation of the community’s cultural traditions due to its important aspect to the tourism’s development sector.
