TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly confirmed there would be no Christmas remission for any corruption convicts. He further said Miranda Swaray Goeltom, convict in Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor election bribery, who filed for remission was also rejected.
“From 150 corruptors who weren’t granted remission, Miranda wanted to submit remission, but was rejected. She’s a high-profile case,” said Yohanna on Wednesday.
Miranda was found guilty of bribing DPR members term 1999-2004 with RP24 billion to win Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor election in 2004.
She and Nunun Nurbaeti, former Police Deputy Chief Adang Daradjatun’s wife, were allegedly involved in the bribery. Nunun was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.
The Anti-corruption Court sentenced Miranda to three years in prison and pay fine Rp100 million.
