TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Governor Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat led a flood anticipation coordination meeting that was held at the Jakarta City Hall yesterday.
Chairman of the Indonesian Hydrology Community Mohammad Hasan said Jakarta will still be flooded until the end of 2014 and early 2015. There has not been any flood prevention project completed this year.
Ciliwung Canal to East Flood Canal is still under construction along with Pesanggrahan, Angke, Sunter and Ciliwung River. “In order to complete it, a commitment is needed. Ciawi and Sukamahi Reservoir will later on be built on the upstream,” Hasan said in a statement.
Head of Field Implementer for the Ciliwung-Cisadane Great Hall, Bastari, said that some areas of Jakarta currently flooded are in the areas of Pesanggrahan and Ciliwung River, especially Kampung Pulo, Kalibata and Kebon Jeruk.
