TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Korean Central News Agency, a North Korean-based news agency, has demanded the US revoke claims that North Korea was the one that hacked Sony Picture, which resulted in Sony scrapping the planned release of a comedy called The Interview.
North Korea has warned the US of strikes against the White House, Pentagon and “the whole US mainland”.
"The army and the people of the DPRK [North Korea] are fully ready to stand in confrontation with the US in all war spaces including cyber warfare space," said the North Korean government as quoted by BBC on Monday.
In The Interview, actors James Franco and Seth Rogen star as two journalists who were about to interview Kim Jong-un. CIA later learned about the planned interview and recruited the pair to assasinate the North Korea ruler.
Even though North Korea has denied carrying out the hacking, it praised it as a “righteous deed”. The hackers, who claim to be from the Guardian of Peace, have stolen various important documents and leaked unreleased films and scripts.
