TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Napoli won Italian Super Cup after defeating Juventus 6-5 in a penalty shootout. Playing away in Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Doha, Il Partenopei waged a revenge against I Bianconeri, after previously losing the same cup in 2012.
In normal time, Juventus booked an early goal as Carlos Tevez scored five minutes in the first half. Fellow Argentinean Gonzalo Higuain booked an equalizer for Napoli in the second half, causing the two teams to proceed to extra time.
In extra time, Tevez scored again in the 106. Fortunately for Napoli, Higuain booked another equalizer in the 118, causing the two teams to proceed to penalty shootout.
Tevez’ luck in the match seemed to run dry as he hit the bar in the shootout. The shootout went for quite sometime, before Napoli’s ninth shooter Kaligou Koulibaly defeated Juventus goalkeeper Buffon to secure the victory.
