Mancini Dismisses Rumors of Attempting to Recruit Lennon

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Inter coach Roberto Mancini has denied reports on trying to recruit Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon to strengthen the Serie A squad for a Champions League push in the second half of the season.
Reports in England mentioned Lennon would be one of Mancini's transfer targets as he looked to get the “Nerazzurri” back among the elites of European football after its two-year absence.
However, after Inter's 2-2 draw at home against Lazio on Sunday, Mancini said "he has never been one of our targets."
The former Manchester City manager said the club might recruit for Alessio Cerci, Atletico Madrid player who was often a benchwarmer.
"He could become one of our principal objectives. But at the moment he's an Atletico Madrid player and so we have to wait a little," Mancini said.
"The only certainty is that we need reinforcements in this particular position."
Inter currently place 11th in Serie A, 18 points behind leaders and defending champions Juventus, four behind city rivals Milan and six behind Lazio in the third and final Champions League qualifying spot.
