TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police will conduct an operation to anticipate street crimes in the Capital on the third week of December 2014.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said that the operation, codenamed Operasi Cipta Kondisi 2014, would be conducted ahead of Christmas and the New Year. Rikwanto added that the operation was aimed at preventing street crimes, such as pickpocketing, robbery and mugging.
According to Rikwanto, the Jakarta Police will deploy officers at spots that are prone to street crimes, particularly at intersections and public transportations.
The crime prevention operation is usually conducted before annual Operasi Lilin (Operation Candle) on Christmas and the New Year to anticipate disturbances and public disorder. Earlier, the Jakarta Police conducted Operation Zebra aiming at traffic violators.
