KAI Sees Increase in Train Passengers by 2%

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State railway company (KAI) chairman Edi Sukmoro predicted that the number of train passengers during the holiday season would reach 3.86 million, increasing by two percent from the same period of last year at 3.81 million.
Edi said KAI will be conducting a special operation on Christmas and New Year starting from December 20, 2015 to January 5, 2015.
“We’re hoping that we would achieve zero accident during this Christmas,” Edi said on Friday, December 2014.
To anticipate the rain season, Edi has prepared equipment and materials at vulnerable spots. PT KAI will deploy a total of 1,500 officers during the Christmas and New Year operation.
Edi said train tickets to several destinations have sold out during the holiday season. Therefore, Edi suggested public to use trains on January 23 to 25.
