AirAsia X Buys 55 Airbus A330neo

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Malaysian long-haul budget airline AirAsia X airline signed an MoU ordering 50 Airbus A330neo during Farnborough Air Show last July, with another five ordered recently.
“The A330 series has proven to be the right type of aircraft for our business model that combines low operating cost, long-distance flight capability and high-level comfort,” said AirAsia X co-founder and director Tony Fernandes on Tuesday.
The 55 Airbus A330neo airplanes cost US$15 billion and their shipment is slated to begin in 2018.
The A330neo reportedly has up to 14 percent per seat. It also has additional nonstop flight range up to 400 nautical miles with low maintenance cost.
The A330 series is claimed as the most sophisticated, large aircraft assembled by Airbus with a capacity of 250 to 500 seats.
In Indonesia, AirAsia X through Indonesia AirAsia X will launch first long-distance flight from Ngurah Rai Airport, Denpasar, to Melbournce on December 26, 2014.
