TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team chief Faisal Basri has refused to make public his team’s performance and achievement since the team is still gathering necessary data for their tasks.
“You know who we are dealing with. So, we have to be more systematic,” Faisal said at his office in Jakarta on Monday, December 15, 2014.
Faisal explained that the reform team was still collecting data and information systematically before revealing it to the media. Faisal also balked at commenting on Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) business.
Earlier, Faisal Basri provided the government with a recommendation over Petral’s task revision. Faisal viewed that Petral’s business was prone to oil and gas mafia practices. However, Pertamina commissioner Sugiharto slammed the plan, saying that Petral had a central role in oil imports to Indonesia.
“Petral serves as a wild card when Pertamina’s subsidy from the State Budget is postponed. Shutting down Petral is risky business,” Sugiharto said.
