TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Faisal Basri, the chief of Oil and Gas Governance Reform Team, said he was satisfied with the appointment of Dwi Soetjipto as the President Director of PT Pertamina, since Dwi previously served as the president director of PT Semen Indonesia and was not from Pertamina.
“It’s a proof that the new Pertamina president director would not be influenced by certain people,” Faisal told Tempo on Friday, November 28, 2014.
According to Faisal, Dwi’s appointment reflected a new era in oil and gas industry.
"The key [to the oil and gas reform] is not appointing a president director from Pertamina, because Pertamina’s board of directors is unclean,” he said.
Faisal said that he had scheduled a meeting with the new president director and other board members to discuss measures needed to be taken to eradicate oil and gas mafia.
In addition to appointing Pertamina president director, the government removed Pertamina’s board of directors and established a new one.
“We’re hoping that there would be no more Purnomo [Yusgiantoro] and Reza’s [Chalid] people in the board of directors,” State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno said.
