Cambodian Authorities Destroy 5.1 Tons of Counterfeit Drugs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Cambodian Economic Police destroyed 5.1 tons of counterfeit medicines on the outskirts of Cambodian capital Phnom Penh on Friday.
“Tons of counterfeit medications have been seized at customs checkpoints, border crossings, as well as pharmacies and drugstores since 2012, thanks to joint operations conducted by Cambodian health authorities and Economic Police authorities,” said the deputy chief of the Interior Ministry's economic police department, Brig. Gen. Long Sreng.
“Sixty two kinds of counterfeit medications were destroyed in the operation,” he was quoted as saying by Reuters.
He said the operation aimed at eliminating counterfeit drug trades, which will positively impact the general welfare of Cambodian citizens.
