Jokowi Meets with Military Top Brass in Bogor

TEMPO.CO, Bogor – President Joko Widodo is scheduled to meet with the Armed Forces’ main command chiefs (Pangkotama) at the Bogor Palace on Friday morning, November 28, 2014.

“So there will be an opening, and then each commander will be given a chance to elucidate problems in their territories,” Armed Forces commander Gen. Moeldoko told the press prior to the meeting at the palace.

Moeldoko said among the commanders that would meet with the president were the commander of the Army’s Strategic Reserves’ Command (Kostrad), the commander of the Army’s Special Forces (Kopassus), and fifteen regional military commanders (Kodam). “Each commander will be given three minutes,” Moeldoko said.

The meeting was scheduled to last until before Friday’s prayers. The president is also slated to meet with chiefs of provincial prosecutor’s office nationwide at 2 p.m.

In the meeting, Jokowi will be accompanied by a string of ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Indroyono Soesilo, Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu, Justice and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly, Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sofyan Djalil, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi and Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti.
