TEMPO.CO, Kabul - A suicide bomb hits a foreign convoy on Kabul's Jalalabad Road, leaving at least five people dead and 20 others wounded. General Ayoub Salangi, Afghanistan's deputy interior minister, said that the suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle during the attack that occurred on Thursday, November 27, 2014. He also said that the Taliban claimed responsibilty for the attack.
Al Jazeera reported that the British embassy in Kabul confirmed that one of their vehicles were hit in the attack. However, there were no diplomats in the vehicle, yet a number of its staff were being treated for injuries.
The explosion was so loud that it could be heard across Kabul. A plume of smoke also rose high into the air above the attack site on the Jalalabad Road, the main route that houses many foreign compounds and military facilities. The bombing itself is the latest in a wave of attacks to hit Kabul as the majority of foreign combat troops withdraw from Afghanistan by the end of the year after 13 years of war against the Taliban and its allies.
