TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Eighteen theatrical groups are set to take the stage at the 2014 Jakarta Theater Festival held from December 5-15, 2014 at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta.

The chief executive of the Jakarta Theater Festival, Malhamang Zamzam, said Tuesday among the groups were Sindikat Aktor Jakarta, Lugas Theater, SNEPTU Theater and Ranggon Sastra Community.

Other groups include Bumi Kalamantra, Teater Indonesia, Teater 21 April, Teater Merah Maroon, Teater Galaxy, Teater el-Nama, Teater Samudra Indonesia, Teater baRu, Sketsa Act, Teater Fatima, Teater Nonton, Teater Hijau 51, Teater Alamat and Teater Ghanta.

Malhamang says two groups will perform on the stage everyday at the Little Theater and Luwes Theater.

The Jakarta Art Council’s committee chairman Dewi Noviami said this year the event was themed “Free”.

Dewi explained the festival, which has lasted since 1973, was more than just a theater contest, but a reflection of the groups’ achievement in enhancing the nation’s theatrical realm.
