TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Arif Wibowo, a politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said his party would not hamper House of Representatives’ effort to use its interpellation right on President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s fuel price hike policy. However, Arif said, the PDI-P would reject the interpellation right at the plenary session.
“We’re not trying to obstruct [House’s] effort to exercise its interpellation right. But we think that [the House] should have used the right to question [the government] first,” Arif told Tempo on Tuesday, November 25, 2014.
About 157 members of several House’s factions under the Red-and-White coalition had signed the interpellation proposal. According to Arief, the proposal to use the interpellation right was premature since it lacked of urgency.
Arif viewed that there were several groups at the House who might want to tackle or even topple President Jokowi. Arief projected that the interpellation right might trigger a political chaos and threatened the improving situation at the House.
